I have just run across an error in the backup program that I have not seen
listed before. I backed up the entire C: disk on an AT with the command
backup c:\ a:/s
After formatting the disk, I tried
restore a: c:/s/p
It restored the first disk, then when I put in the second disk restore
complained about having the disk out of sequence. I looked at the second
disk and the ID file was empty (0 bytes). All the other disks for the
backup had the correct ID files (128bytes) -- only this one was messed up.
(I'm nobody's fool -- the only R/O files were the system files in the root
directory). Fortunately, I have a second set of backup disks (the hard disk
had recently gone bad), so I was able to restore from them.
Has anyone else seen this? Is this another bug in backup/restore?
...and what about Naomi?
My problem is solved, but I would like to know if I need to continue to check
backup disks for this or other errors.
