For the past six months, I have accumulated a lot of public domain softwares for both pc and pc-xt. Just to give you a feeling of what they are; MDOS utilities - disk utilities, directory utilities, screen utility, scrolling utility...... communication programs - Kermit, telelink, IBMmini...... terminal emulator - vt100, vt52, and H19. logo language screen editors word processing, pc-calc...... and of course, many many good graphic games. Now, if any of you out there is interested in obtaining the softwares, please send me formatted disks + return envelope with stamp and your address. Since this is free and I do not want to do this constantly, so my offer will be ended on Oct 5, 1984. Send disks to : Ed. Chen RM HO 2L-325 AT&T Bell Labs. Holmdel, NJ 07733

How many disks? What format (DOS 1.0, 2.0; 8/9 sector; SS or DS)?

I've gotten lots feedbacks for the past few days. The one question that people asked all the time is how many DSDD disks are we talking about ? And which format shall one use ? DOS 1.1 or DOS 2,0 ? Well, here is my answer, total number of disks come to about 5, and should be formatted in DOS 2.0 or higher. Ed. Chen AT&T Bell Labs houxk!eyc

[] I just got my copy of the "Directory of Public Domain Software for the IBM PC" by the PC Software Interest Group (PC-SIG). It lists oodles of software available for a nominal cost. Anybody know of any other groups that have large libraries of public domain software for IBM PC's? Please respond via mail. I'll post responses if there's enough interest. So far nobody has given me any other pointers ( software^.next = NIL ), but many have asked how I got my directory. Here's the scoop. The Directory of Public Domain Software for the IBM Personal Computer is available from: PC Software Interest Group (PC-SIG) 1556 Halford Ave Suite #130 Santa Clara, CA 95051 (408) 730-9291 It is also supposed to be available at some book store chains such as B. Dalton's. Mine cost $4.95 + $1.00 S&H from PC-SIG.

Can someone please give me some general information on Public Domain software for the IBM PC and others. I understand that there is a public domain MAKE for the PC. Is the source (for make and other stuff) obtainable from the net or do I need to contact a particular club for the .EXE? I'm new to the net and appreciate any help. I plan to post some source and valuable information as soon as I can.
