I recently added some memory to my PC and upon booting I am getting an error code which doesn't correspond to the codes which were posted to this newsgroup recently. Specifically, the error code is 2055, which indicates an error in the second bank. What does the 55 mean? It does not appear that the individual chip number codes are additive (i.e. the error does not appear to be in 01, 04, 10 and 40). No "educated guesses" please; my colleagues and I have gone through the exercise of swapping chips and checking switches, all in vain. Thanks in advance. -- David S. I had a memory problem on a machine a friend of mine had. I went the standard chip swap way and was stumped. all the chips tested fine but still when all were in the machine would not recognize that all the memory was in. It turned out that a few of the cheap chips I had purchased were heavily loading the the address lines. They would work alone in the machine but when more chips were added the address signals were so low the other chips failed. The only way I found them was by putting in two rows of chips that worked perfectly and then changing one particular chip with an unknown quality chip and seeing if memory test still worked and reported correct amount of memory. This was back when I was using 64K chips and they were dear, today I might just look at the cost of 64k's and nuke them all! tj
