[net.micro.pc] Word Perfect with a DWP 510

hesse@watdcsu.UUCP (BJ Cameron - DCS) (03/12/86)

Is anyone using a TRS80 DWP-510 printer on a PC with WORDPERFECT.
I defined the printer from the setup menu and everything works
great (subscripts superscripts underline etc).
However, when I go to print the document a second time it just
prints junk.
It requires a power off of the TRS1000 before it will print properly
again.
An example of the problem:
First time it will print the word "testing" correctly.
The second time it prints "t s i g".
The WordPerfect 4.1 manual has the DWP 510 printer marked as
limited support, which means they do not have the printer in-house
and as a result, can't test the definitions.
I thought I would ask the NET before spending the money on a long
distance call, just to find out they don't know what the problem is.

Define your printer output "port" as 8, DOS file.
Print a document. Rename the output file and print again.
Dump the 2nd file with the debugger (or something) and make sure the problem
is not in the generated output (not likely). Then concatenate the two files
and send them to the printer. Back in the debugger, look at the last thing
sent before the problem occurs and look it up in your printer manual...
The PRINTER program can be used to change the definition.

The tech support line is toll free, one of the reasons I would never switch
to another WP.
