At least the SHELL command is listed in the documentation! I think there
is a higher probability that this command gets fully documented so that
it stays in future revisions of MS-DOS then for the address of a patch to
remain constant from one version to another. :-)

By the way, the location for the patch on my DOS 3.1 on an IBM PC-AT is D0D.
The current instruction is:

xxxx:0D0D C7063A130A00 MOV 	WORD PTR [133A],000A

I found this before I learned of the 'feature' in the SHELL command.

While the SHELL command is documented, the /e option does  not appear to be, at
least not in the documentation I've seen.  Interesting address (D0D), since
in my copy of DOS 3.1 on my PC-AT the address turned out to be 0D11 !
