J. Q. Johnson of Cornell has enquired concerning the possibility of
using WordPerfect in conjunction with greater than 25-80 screens. It
probably wouldn't work very well with the IBM color adaptor or similar
devices, but it works quite well (44 x 132) with the Everex card and a
decent monochrome display, using the Everex 44 x 132 mode. I've done
it. Does anyone know whether MS Word is even capable of such usage?.bcking@inmet.UUCP (03/19/86)
--- 132 column display with WordPerfect ---
We tried out the Tseng Labs "Ultrapak-S" board that does 132x44
(and 132x28 and 132x25 and 80x25) with WordPerfect 4.1 and Lotus 123
Ver 2 and Qwiknet. Works fine with all of them. Good support from
Tseng Labs, too.
Turned out we didn't like the eyestrain of the 132x44 display (teeny-
tiny letters and numbers) and decided we could live without seeing
everything at once: we just slide that 80x25 window across the page.
This was more the fault of our screensize, though, than the font.
(Usual disclaimer about relations with manufacturers. PS: WordPerfect
is great. Don't you just pity those poor souls who are looking for
indexing and table-of-contents programs for WordSt*r?)
