I would like to put together a proposal for using a laptop computer to run automated tests. The basic setup would be the PC sending commands and recieving data over a RS232 port and either sending results over another RS232 port or logging it to some mass storage. The RS232 port should be capable of at least 9600 baud, and the mass storage writable with at least 100k bytes free. I am slightly familiar with some portables. The Tandy 100 or 600 seem limited in functionality but is moderate in cost, while the DG-1 is powerful but costly. There should be something in between that meets my needs. My request is to have any info on possible laptops that can fit the brief requirements I've given. A name or reference would be very helpful. Thanks, Owen Alexander
