I've been considering buying a PC/XT clone and came across a GENERIC IBM-PC/XT. It looks almost like the real thing, except it has a fliptop lid. The system board is supposedly the same as the real thing except that extra memory can be put directly on the board. The one I saw had no name anywhere on it, but I've seen what looks like the same thing in several magazine ads. Some of the vendors I've seen are: The Diversified Group (Los Angeles) California Digital (Carson, California) Jameco Electronics (kit form only) Jade Computer (I'm not sure it's the same computer) and others. I saw these ads in March, 1986 Byte, and I saw the actual computer at a reputable computer store. If anyone out there knows anything about or has had experience with this thing, please let me know. For $1000 dollars or less, I can get the system unit, monitor, keyboard, parallel/serial/monitor interface, two half height floppy drives, and 100% compatibility! (or so they say) Thanks much! -- ------------------------------------------ Tom Lowe uucp: {allegra, ihnp4}!psuvax1!lowe Bitnet: LOWE@PSUVAX1.BITNET
