Doing a screen dump on an IBM PC without a printer does NOT hang the system. It will timeout after about 30 seconds (or so) and then continue. If you do this (Shift_PrtSc, printer off), you'll notice that after awhile the cursor will go to the upper left corner of the screen for a bit while the PrtSc routine apparently decides the printer is not there. A short time later you will again have system control. You don't have to reboot in this situation. Just be patient. G. Seaburg c/o keifer uiucdcsp
