[net.micro.pc] wanted: a mating between COM1 and COM2

demillo@uwmacc.UUCP (Rob DeMillo) (05/09/86)

I would like to be able to access a device on COM1: *from* a device
on COM2: without the IBM XT getting in the way. Does anyone out there
have a simple PD assembler program to do this? If so, can you email
me the reference or the package? Many thanks in advance....

I imagine this will work but am not totally certain...

Initialize both COM ports identically with a program such as MODE
or Kermit. Then connect them together in parallel with a custom
made cable. Pin 1 of one port should be connected to pin 1 of
the other. Same goes for all the other pins you use, which are
2, 3, 7, and perhaps 6 and 20.
