With all the talk about Epsilon and Brief for MS-DOS, I thought I would put in my 2 cents worth (again!) about PC/VI. Yes, I know as well as the rest of you that editors are a religious issue and it's been EMACS vs. VI for years. However, whereas Epsilon (and others) are a reasonable EMACS implementation under MS-DOS, PC/VI is a FULL implementation of VI (version 3.7) under MS-DOS. For those of us who prefer VI to EMACS, PC/VI was a long awaited present. Also, for those who DO have PC/VI, version 1.01 came out about two months ago. If you didn't get it, and the new user's manual, you should contacts CSS right away, the program hasn't changed alot (mostly bug fixes and optimizations, not much in added features) but the new manual is excellent. If interested, you can get PC/VI from: Custom Software Systems PO Box 551 Shrewsbury, MA 01545 617-842-1712 John Korn Diagnostics Engineer Data General Corp. Note: I have no affiliation with Custom Software Systems (other than being a customer) and the opinions expressed here are my own and not that of my company (etc. etc. etc.)
