*** REPLACE THIS LINE WITH YOUR MESSAGE *** I am interested in test reports for IBM's Xenix V (release 2 I think) running on an IBM AT. If anyone can send me citations I would appreciate it. -- Michael Brochstein AT&T Information Systems, Middletown, NJ ihnp4!mtx5d!mtx5c!mab (201) 957-1764

I was using XENIX (version 1.0) for about a year and became very frustrated with the compiler bugs and lousy documentation. I had given up all hope of being able to build any large programs with it. IBM has realy turned XENIX around (in the right direction for a change)! Programs that never use to make it through the compiler now compile just fine and they actually execute without any problems. The documentation for version 2.0 is superb. They included a lot of information about the system itself (ie. the header files, the systems calls, etc. which was completely left out of version 1.0). The organization of the documentation has been greatly improved with cross-references and indexes that make locating specific info a breeze. The OS is based on SYSTEM V and I have had no trouble compiling programs that were designed for SYSTEM V on XENIX. Anyone out there who is still running XENIX version 1.0 or is interested in a unix for the AT I recommend IBM's new XENIX. I'd give it a four star rating. --Shawn Bosley
