I recently bought a PC/XT clone made by Bondwell. It is configured with -
640kb memory (256kb on the mother board and 384kb add on)
a 1/2 height 360kb floppy drive
20 mb winni
CGA with color monitor
serial port, parallel port
battery backed up clock
It runs all of the programs I have tried except the PD program PCWINDOW
and a similar package called POPCORN included by the dealer with the machine.
When I run either of these programs they steal the keyboard interrupt and
then terminate and remain resident. I hit the "hot key" and the program
responds with the display I asked for (ascii table, calandar, clock, etc).
When I exit back to DOS the machine is sometimes hung or responds by dumping
garbage to the screen when I try to enter a DOS command. When the machine is
hung even CNTL/ALT/DEL doesn't work. The machine always hangs after I exit
the clock window. Other windows sometimes work and sometimes cause the
hang or dump.
Can anyone help with this problem?
BTW the machine is a Bondwell model 34 and I am running DOS V2.11.
I have checked/compared the DOS low core locations and INT vectors to the
IBM Technical Manual and they match the IBM PC-2/XT values (even the
addresses in the INT vectors).
Thganks in advance,
