[net.micro.pc] accessing the Enhanced Graphics Adaptor on a PC

Does anyone have experience writing directly to the EGA memory?
Peter Norton warns me that I will be forbidden to do so and I find
this to be true.  I have no doubt that Lotus and other companies
have figured out the trick so why can't I do it too?
