Just a questions for the net here. I am ready to upgrade my poor little Apple. I hate to say this, but I'm ready to go to the IBM. I am having a hard time to justify buying an AT, but an XT is at least affordable. Is this possible? An IBM XT Clone w. 640k RAM at least 1 360 k drive 20 M floppy 1 serial port 1 par. port monographics look alike and display Could I get the for less than $1500? From who? Any brands I should avoid. The system was: 8088-2 running at 8Mhz (faster than XT, slower than AT) 640K RAM 20 Mb disk at 65 msec access (faster than XT, slower than AT) 14" Amber monitor Hercules compatable mono adaptor 2 serial ports parallel port clock/calendar for $1320. I believe tax was included. He tested the machine using the PC Magazine benchmarks, and it tested out as being a faster machine than his IBM PC/XT with an Univation accelerator board. I don't have the address or phone number for this company. Please don't ask. There are LOTS of ads for places like this in PC WEEK, BYTE, INFOWORLD, etc. Go to your library. --Brian Bechtel {3comvax,amdahl,hplabs}!bnrmtv!blob
