Thank you all who have taken the time to respond to my earlier postings. I have received several lists of goodies from various people, and I am trying to contact them and actually get stuff on magnetic media. I've also been having problems keeping track of addresses for this project, so I may not have gotten back to some of you. If that's the case, I apologise. Please, unless you've already heard from me, if you have any nifty UNIX tools for IBM/Klone machines, drop me a line, tell me what you have, and tell me if I can mail you a disk (disks ?) and *where*. There has been some confusion since I get these lists of "yeah, well, I have this, this, this, and this. thanks." If it is not impertinent, why not give me your US snail address, and I'll get a floppy to you. (yes, I'll cover postage) Further clarification: 1) this is still the formative stage of this operation. All I have in my hot and sweaty hands right now are as follows: sed, grep, paste, join, rev, tee, cat, and other odds and ends. I have been trying to get mail to some people who have promised me awk, make, fgrep, and a few others. for now that looks to be the list, unless I can get my version of "lint" working. :-) 2) I'm not really done assembling all this yet, and expect I never will be, but any of you who want this stuff (except you out there who are "prime contributors") are gonna have to mail me a diskette or two or three. I am not going to pay your postage. unless I specifically contact you along the lines of "uh, can I mail you a disk" don't expect me to foot the bill. if I mail disks to everyone on the net, I'll be awfully poor very fast. 3) due to copyright laws, and since I can't bne sure of the origins of all this material, source will not be included. period. I am not a cleainghouse for pirate software. further, to forestall any flamage from righteous rectal-compatibles: "assume that the names listed in this article are referring not to AT&T copyrighted materials, but to public-domain implementations of the same. the AT&T copyright names grep, awk, etc, are simply used for convenience." if you don't like that, esse mien lederhosen. 4) due to stupidity on my part, I *have* lost the addresses of some of you. (like the fellow who sent me a "cal" and a "uudecode") I'm sorry, but that's why I haven't gotten back to you (most gould employees are smart: I'm the token integrator) If you have sent me mail, and recieved only silence: please contact me again, and provide me with a usenet address. so, that's that. bombard me with disks. if you have something you're *SURE* i'll want and don't have, mail it to me, and I'll cover your return postage, and give you what I have. (honest - I'm a nice guy) but I won't cover your postage if all you want is toys. if you want a copy of my current working set, mail me a disk, with enough stamps or bux to cover postage, and I'll load it and send it back. better send several (about 3) to be sure. right now I have a disk's worth, but that may change. if you don't want to just jump in and risk 4$ (2$ for disks, 2$ for postage) drop me a line on the net, and we'll chat. {decuac|sundc} gouldsd!mjranum (yeah, we're kinda new) Marcus James Ranum 6335 64th Ave, apt #1 Riverdale, MD 20737 (301)699-0386 (only call at 6:00PM md time) -- if I were you, who would be reading this ? *All opinions expressed aren't even mine, let alone those of Gould, Inc.*
