[net.micro.pc] xenix with the adaptek rll controller

nasser@ucbvax.UUCP (07/16/86)

i have been having problems with booting from xenix
on the new adaptek 2070 rll controller. the installation
process goes without a hitch, but when i boot from
the hard disk i get a bunch of error messages
including "not a directory," "/boot not found,"
and "stage 1 boot failure." i can still boot
from the floppy with the root on the hard disk.

i suspect the problem is that the xenix bootstrap
program on the hard disk makes some assumptions
about the characteristics of the hard disk which
are not correct. probably the bootstrap program
on the floppy obtains these parameters from
somewhere rather than making asumptions about it.

i will welcome any suggestions about how to solve
this problem. i can adjust the pulse step rate
and the interleave factor.

thanx very much.
