I am posting this article for a fellow worker that has a child with a hearing impairment. He would very much like to find software for an IBM compatible PC to aid his child in developing her speech. I have heard there is some such package for Apples. A person with normal hearing says a word into the mic and a graphical representation (based on frequency) is displayed on the screen. The hearing impaired person then says the word and tries to match the pattern. When the pattern is matched, or nearly so, then the person knows that they have spoken a word that should be recognized by normal hearing people. Please direct any and all suggestions to me via e-mail.
