There have been a number of requests lately from people needing pointers to books - here are two books which I have found to be of great benefit in learning and using assembler. Assembly Language Primer for the IBM PC & XT by Robert Lafore 1984 A Plume/Waite Book, New American Library ISBN 0-452-25711-5 This takes a person from scratch, and teaches introductory and medium difficulty level assembler. It starts with the use of DEBUG, and then moves over to the use of an assembler. It is more oriented to teaching (assembler and the architecture of the PC and the use of PC-DOS) than as a reference book. For a reference on the instructions, I use: The 8086 Book (includes the 8088) by Russel Rector and George Alexy 1980 Osborne/McGraw-Hill ISBN 0-07-931029-X --henry schaffer n c state univ
