A frequent question on usenet: how do I ftp from xxx a file mentioned in some newsgroup? Answer: almost always requires that you have access to a machine on the ARPAnet (actually DOD internet these days, with ARPAnet and MILNET being the two main subnets), running TCP/IP software. FTP is an interactive file transfer protocol command; usually you interact with a series of commands to establish a connection to some remote machine, log in, copy files in either direction, examine directories, etc. A bit like UUCP. The sad fact is that if you didn't know what it is, you probably can't do it. -- Darrel J. When I try, I get an "unknown Host" error. Is there any fix for/way around this? Todd Krein vizard@dartvax
