[net.micro.pc] IBM GKS interface query

kevin@bdcvax.UUCP (09/15/86)

I would like to know more about interfacing graphics programs
written with IBM's GKS libraries to the graphics cards. For
entirely IBM equipment, I presume you go through the VDI.
You then have a .SYS file that depends on your graphics card
(ie vdidypgd.sys for IBM professional graphics controller card),
But what if you graphics card is not from IBM? can you still use
vdi.sys? init_vdi? I sure would like to know.
Another question I have is does any body know of software
for configuring system's hardware and software? As an example
some package that would do the same as configure system in
Autocad (c), or Setup in 123 (c) ?
Please send answers.
