The Structured Programming Language is a free format block
structured and procedure oriented programming language. It is an
alternative to PASCAL and C. It may be obtained from the IBM SIG
on Compuserve,The Source,BIX,GENIE or from a BBS at 516 334 8221.
The file name is SPLLIB.ARC which contains the complete language
system. If you like the software then I recommend strongly that
you REGISTER and pay for it. For software support call Electronic
Digital Computer Systems at 516 694 5872.

Major advantages of SPL over PASCAL.

1. SPL has better string manipulation functions and longer
strings.

2. SPL programs run faster than turbo pascal.

3. SPL programs can be as large as a 640k IBM computer vs 64k for
turbo.

4. SPL has better RANDOM and Sequential I/O than pascal.

5. SPL has graphics builtin whereas you must buy subroutines for
turbo.

6. SPL supports 8087 whereas you must buy routines for turbo.

7. With SPL your old BASIC programs are not obsolete! Link them
together.

8. SPL has better FOR loops than pascal SPL allows real
indicies,increments.

9. SPL programs are portable to APPLE MACINTOSH,COMMODORE AMIGA,
ATARI 520 and 1040 ST,CP/M.

10. SPL won't turn you off as it has alot of the statements that
are in MICROSOFT BASIC (and are compatible) but in a very neat
block structured language.

Pass this info and software around to clubs, bulletin board
systems, and users around the country. SPL is also in the HAL PC
users library call (human) 713 721 5205. Ask for program 2-PGb639
Structured Programming Language. It is currently being considered
for PCSIG 800 245 6717 and PC BLUE.

The latest update of SPL can always be found on the bbs mentioned
above at 516 334 8221. I will see that it will be called
SPLLIB.ARC but sometimes the sysop will not be able to replace
the old file with the update. So look first for a file SPL.ARC,
if you do NOT find that file then SPLLIB.ARC will be the most up
to date file. As of today 9/11/86, I have placed an update file
SPL.ARC and it has not replaced the old SPLLIB.ARC, so look for
SPL.ARC and download it.
