[net.micro.pc] Finding out if a floppy is blank

	Does anyone know to find out if a floppy diskette you are about to
format is blank, without using the "DIR" command.

	I am writing a DBASEIII application, one its function is to format
a floppy diskette.  Using the 'dir' command  on a blank diskette yeilds
the error message "abort, retry or ignore" which is confusing to a new user
and could be very damaging.  I would like to avoid getting this message
however, at the same time having some reliable way to detect the
blank/non-blank status.
