I need some advice about (temporarily) putting multiple hard drives in a PC-compatible Z-158. The situation is: A friend of mine has a Compaq portable with a hard disk (10Meg, I think) and a defunct power supply. He wants to plug his controller card into my Z-158 long enough to back up the harddisk before shipping his machine back to the vendor (harddisk should go back, since it may be the cause of the overloaded P.S.) My Z-158 has a 30Meg harddisk (on an Adaptec controller, if that matters). So the question: Need I disconnect my drive/controller before running his? Or can I just plug another one in? If so, what should I know about two-hard- disk operation under MS-DOS 3.1? (For that matter, is my 168W P.S. likely to be up to the strain of two hard disks?) Any and all advice will be greatly appreciated... *-=-*-=-*-=-*-=-*-=-*-=-*-=-*-=-*-=-*-=-*-=-*-=-*-=-*-=-*-=-*-=-*-=-*-=-*-=-* RAMontante Computer Science "Nobody's hugged me today" Indiana University

If your Adaptec controller is RLL encoded, you won't be able to read the Compaq hard disk with it.
