As the poster of the original item leading to the debate on how, why, and whether one should write 360K diskettes on a 1.2M drive, let me thank the contributors for their interesting comments. The major lesson seems to be that while in theory it should be possible (if the correct steps are followed) in practice there is some variance in experience. My own experience is not good--I can't read the AT produced diskettes on any of my PCs. I'm sure that alignment must be highly critical. One person asked why this was necessary at all given the low price of 360K drives. Good point. But, in my case, I have a 1.2M drive in the top slot and a streaming tape backup in the bottom. No more room! Finally, in my original question, I asked whether anyone had used a program called CPYAT2PC to effect the transfer. Nobody has mentioned this. Has anyone out there used CPYAT2PC? Does it work reliably? Ian Spence {allegra,decvax,ihnp4,seismo,watmath}!utcs!utcsstat!spence
