What ever happened to the space shuttle Enterprize? Did they just rename it to Columbia, or are they doing something with it? Was (is) it capable of space flight? Wouldn't it be interesting to see a Startrek film with the old shuttle and Kirk's Enterprise meeting in some time related conflict! Oh well ,,, Logic is only the beginning... Sometimes one out weights the many and Sometimes many out weight the one!

The space shuttle Enterprise was a test model, not intended to fly, although I think they had originally planned to refit it for space flight. This plan has probably been cancelled. The space shuttle and the star ship have met, in a way. In the first Star Trek movie, the ship's lounge had a display with pictures of five craft named "Enterprise": the British sailing warship, the American aircraft carrier, the space shuttle, a 21st century sublight spacecraft, and the starship (from the TV series, before the facelift.)

The Enterprise was the prototype shuttle, used in drop tests in the late 70's. It is not space worthy and there are no current plans to make it space worthy.
