Spock's pet was a SEHLAT.
In one of the Filmation animated Star Trek episodes ("Yesteryear"), the pet
sehlat was shown on screen. It looked like a sabertoothed dog/bear, and its
name was Ee-Chiya (pronounced "Eye-chai-a" by the actor who did the
voiceover).
