[net.startrek] Double Roles Update II

osborn@houxf.UUCP (06/30/83)

There have been a few wrong guesses and some further correct
ones. Here are the "nice try"s:

Philana (Parmen's wife) was played by Barbara Babcock in
Plato's Stepchildren
Amanda (Spock's mother) was played by Jane Wyatt in
Journey to Babel

Plasus (High Advisor of Stratos) was played by Jeff Corey in
Cloudminders
Anan 7 (Council Leader of Eminiar VII) was played by
David Opatoshu in A Taste of Armageddon

So far people have guessed right 5 out of the (now) 10.
I also discovered one of the actors played in THREE
different roles! The five correct ones so far are:

Sarek	Miranda Trelane Lord Petri and the Horta
(I was quite shocked at the last one!)

Here's my list of double roles in the televised Star Trek shows:

Mark Lenard -- Sarek (Journey to Babel) and the Romulan Commander
                       (Balance of Terror)
Diana Muldaur -- Miranda Jones (Is There in Truth No Beauty) and Lt.
Commander Anne Mulhall (Return to Tomorrow)
William Campbell -- Koloth (The Trouble With Tribbles) and Trelane (The
                       Squire of Gothos)
Barbara Babcock -- Mea 3 (A Taste of Armageddon) and Philana (Plato's
                       Stepchildren)
Barry Russo -- Commodore Wesley (The Ultimate Computer) and Lt.
Commander Giotto (The Devil in the Dark)
Morgan Woodward -- Dr. Van Gelder (Dagger of the Mind) and Captain **** (The
                       Omega Glory)
Charles Macauley -- Commissioner Jaris (Wolf in the Fold) and Landru (The
                       Return of the Archons)
Ian Wolfe -- Mr. Atoz (All Our Yesterdays) and Septimus (Bread and
                       Circuses)
Phyllis Douglas -- Yeoman Mears (The Galileo Seven) and hippie girl (The Way
                       to Eden)
John Harmon -- Tepo (A Piece of the Action) and vagrant (City on the
                       Edge of Forever)
Lawrence Montaigne -- Decius (Balance of Terror) and Stonn (Amok Time)

There are lots more, but I think it starts getting into minor characters and
bit roles. Incidentally, Janos Prohaska played three different monster roles:
the Horta (Devil in the Dark), Yarnek (The Savage Curtain) and the Mugato
(A Private Little War).

Didn`t Majel Barret play both Number One in the pilot as well as
Nurse Chapel?

In `The Ultimate Computer', the actor playing Commodore Bob Wesley
(the one who saves the Enterprise' skin) appears in some other episode
(don't remember the one) as a security guard in a red shirt. I can't
remember the sequence of the two episodes (our local station permuted
them to no small degree), so he either was promomted real fast or
really screwed something up!

If the fact that Janos Prohaska has played several creatures on the series
surprises you, here's something in the same category: A lot of the voices
for creatures and unseen entities were done by an actor named Bart LaRue.
These include (if memory serves): Nomad, the Guardian in "City on the Edge
of Forever" and the creature from "Savage Curtain". I may be wrong about
the last one, and there are undoubtedly others I have missed; sorry, but
I left my Star Trek Concordance at home today.
