[net.startrek] double roles

rst@houxu.UUCP (06/29/83)

Another one is the guy who played:
	1. The leader of the planet at war with its neighbor in 'A Taste of
Armageddon.'
	2. The leader of the cloud city in 'The Cloudminders.'

Sorry about the previous posting.

Mark Leonard played Spock's father in "Journey to Babel", and a Klingon
commander in another episode, possibly Kang in "Day of the Dove". He also
played the Klingon commander in ST-TMP.

Mark Lenard has played three roles.
1) Sarek - Spock's father in "Journey to Babel"
2) The Romulan commander in "Balance of Terror" and
3) The Klingon commander in Star Trek the Motion Picture

Well, while tracking down the error by houxu!rst in which he claimed
that the leaders in "A Taste of Armageddon" and "The Cloud-Minders" were
played by the same actor, I discovered that Barbara Babcock played Mea 3
in the former. She also played Philana in "Plato's Stepchildren," which
I think someone recently mistook for being the same actress as Jane
Wyatt, who played Spock's mother.

It just occurred to me that having the Star Trek Concordance in machine-readable
form would make it trivial to answer questions like this. Edit the file to get
a list of actors, use SORT and UNIQUE to find those who are in more than one
episode, then hunt around using a good editor to find the episodes and characters.

Ain't technology wonderful?

Mark Lenard was Spock's father, but also played the Romulan
commander in the first episode which introduced the Cloaking Device.
I don't remember the name of that episode.

I don't know the actor's name but didn't the character (Sirano Jones I
think) in the Trouble with Tribbles also appear as some Roman leader (the side-
kick to the First Citizen) in the episode where the christians were slaves in a
20th century Roman empire?
