The only way to summarize is to say that they range from fair (the one you've read is, I think, one of the best) to terrible. Among the better recent ones, in my opinion: Correy, Lee The Abode of Life Gerrold, David The Galactic Whirlpool Weinstein, Howard The Covenent of the Crown Among the poorest (again, of course, my personal opinion) are the ones written by Marshak & Culbreath, although I very much enjoyed The New Yoyages 1 & 2, which they edited; some of those short stories are pretty good. And, of course, I don't expect everyone to agree with me.

#N:uicsl:11600007:000:871 uicsl!twt Oct 14 20:52:00 1983 I've just finished reading the book. It's the first Star Trek novelization I've read. I never wanted to read any of it cause I thought it would just be people trying to cash in on the name and wouldn't show much consistency - wrong again. Thoughts and comments -- Good book. Based on one of my favorite episodes; "All Our Yesterdays", seemed to hang in well with both the episode and the series. Only one slight time I noticed (Kirk) out of characterization was: Reprinted without permission (of course) "Kirk grinned (at McCoy) and headed for the door. 'I'll leave you to get him dressed and barbered. After all, I'm a starship Captain - not a valet.'" That does sound a little more like McCoy than Kirk to me. Nonetheless, it was a good work and I'd like if anyone can recommend (for or against) other Star Trek books. Thanks, Mary
