[net.startrek] Spock's smarts in 'Menagerie'

Oh come on...  what waste of human material?  On his new planet Pike
can't *DO* ANY MORE than he could anywhere else...  He just *thinks*
he can...  The only reason Spock took him back was because of the
dovotion and loyalty he still had for a former starship captain.  One
might note that it was his FIRST captain too.  Why can't people learn
to appreciate Spock as he is.  Everyone seems to be missing the fact
that if Spock didn't have an occasional slip of emotions that no-one
would probably like him at all.  Its Spock's weaknesses that make his
fans like him in the first place.  A *true* `cold fish' would no doubt
generate feelings of dislike.
