<Set phasers on stun...>

Last weekend at MASSCONFUSION, I had the fortune to see the teasers
from Paramount for STIII. In a word, they looked FANTASTIC! Two
primary sequences were shown:

1.) The Enterprise, still damaged from its encounter with Reliant
is in orbit around the Genesis Planet. Kirk is on the bridge,
in uniform. Chekov is at the science station. Sulu, in a blue
robe (civvies?) is in the navigator's seat. Mr. Scott is in
Chekov's seat(!!!) wearing a uniform (not the engineering getup
from STII).

Cut to the Klingon Bridge, where Kruge, in his malevolence, is
ordering the attack on the Enterprise. All of a sudden, the new
Klingon Bird of Prey drops its cloaking device screen and appears,
firing on the Enterprise. (The Klingon ship is a streamlined new
and improved version of the old cruiser.) The Enterprise takes
a terrible hit - the bridge looks like it did after the Reliant got
through with it. Kirk yells for power to move - but the shot hit
the ship in the 'junction box' - so Scott can't fix it. However,
they do get a shot off at the Klingons.

Cut back again to the Klingon bridge. The Klingon is also severely
wounded. Kirk opens communication. Kruge looks on as Kirk orders
him to surrender. Kruge thinks "they must be more wounded than we
thought" and cuts communication. He orders his second in command to
organize boarding parties. The second protests, saying that the
ship is too wounded and why should they risk it. Kruge looks him
in the eye and says "Because we are Klingons!".

2.) On the surface of the Genesis planet - which is in flames.
Saavik and Son of Kirk are hostages of Kruge and his band. Kirk
and some Enterprise crew approach Kruge. Kirk yells to be heard
above the maelstrom - "Kruge - the planet is destroying itself. We
can only get out of here if we work together..." Kruge yells
back "No!". Kirk replies "The planet is tearing itself apart".
Kruge retorts "Yes - isn't it glorious!" (The dialogue is close.)

In summary - there was no sign of Spock anywhere. Christopher Lloyd
as Kruge is incredibly evil and pure Klingonese. He wants Genesis as
a weapon and will stop at nothing to get it! Overall, I was really
impressed!
