Ok, here is a trivia question that has stumped me for years.
On the left wall as you come out of the Turbo Lift Elevator onto
the Bridge, there is a large brass plaque. On it is inscribed the
port of registry of the Enterprise. What is it?
I have never been able to get a close enough look at it on the regular
television episodes, and I forgot to notice if it was in the motion
pictures.

Believe it or not, I think the plaque on the Enterprise bridge specifies San Francisco as the ship's port of registry. That is where Starfleet Command's main offices are located (er...WILL BE located). I have a photograph of the plaque itself and I'll follow up with a description of the entire thing. -- "Sorry, neither!" Roger Noe ihnp4!ihlts!rjnoe

According to the Star Trek Guide, the Enterprise's home port is San Francisco. It's components were built at the San Francisco Navy yard and assembled in space. John R Blaker UUCP: ...!fortune!wdl1!jrb ARPA: jrb@FORD-WDL1

If I am not mistaken, the port of registry of the U.S.S. Enterprise is the San Fransisco Ship Yards, planet Earth. Ronald "Not quite all here" Rosul@nmtvax New Mexico Tech, Socorro, New Mexico, Earth.

I seem to remember (from "The Making of Star Trek", I think) that
the place where the Enterprise was *built* had a rather commonplace
20th century name - The San Francisco Naval Shipyards, perhaps.
I don't know if this is the same thing as it's port of registration.
It's pretty interesting - I never noticed that there was writing
on the plaque. ST is full of subtleties like that, though. Anyone
ever listen to the background chatter that can almost always be
heard on the bridge? I wonder who recorded that chatter - was it actually
always relevant to the operation of the Enterprise? I know that
certain phrases seemed to make sense, but it's hard to follow the
gist of the thing.

<for the line eaters>
First in response to Eli Haber's question about which episode scotty
calls Kirk "Jim", it's "Mirror, Mirror" where Kirk, Uhura, Scotty, and
McCoy are exchanged with ruthless counterparts from a parallel universe
while beaming up form the planet Halken.
A New Trivia estion:
What was the name of the air force officer who interrogated Kirk at a
20th century air force base in the episode where the Enterprise is hurled
back through time and spotted as a UFO ( Tomorrow is Yesterday??)?
