Okay, I'm not certain of the reference for this one. I believe it's from "The Making of ST: TMP," which I don't have, but read once many years ago in the bookstore... it's probably out of print now. When it was thought that Leonard Nimoy would be unavailable for the first movie, they had already cast Stephen Collins. But not as Captain Will Decker. He was to play the new Vulcan science officer, Xon. Later, they changed his part into Decker, and Xon became Commander Sonak, the Vulcan who died in the transporter accident early in the film. This bit of trivia comes from one paragraph, buried somewhere in a book that most Trek fans have never even seen. I think the fact that Mike Barr, writer of DC Comics' Star Trek series, knows even such trivial trivia speaks well for the attention to detail put into the project. -- Stewart Wiener :-) "Read and weep as did Alexander Princeton Univ.
