Didn't everybody get my hasty follow-up to my article about McCoy's quote? (Wherein the word "bricklayer" should have been "escalator"). I realized that I had mistyped the quote shortly after I posted the article and posted a correction. I've been getting so many flames that I am beginning to wonder-- did you not get it at your site? I would be very interested if this were the case, for if so, maybe other sites did not get it either, and I should therefore perhaps repost it. Anyway, for the record, the quote in "Friday's Child" is "I'm a doctor, not an escalator." The quote in "The Devil In The Dark" is "I'm a doctor, not a bricklayer." Whew. What a load off my conscience. On another subject--The Rumored Demise of the Enterprise. I think Stewart Wiener (..!tilt!smw) has a good point about the Enterprise's capability to jettison the primary hull if necessary. Unless, of course, the secondary hull was also in such bad shape as to make this alternative useless. I haven't seen the clip myself--here in Hanover, NH, T.V. reception is limited to a whopping 1 channel if you don't have cable. For someone who has seen it--what kind of shape is the rest of the hull in? I think it would be really sad if they destroyed the ole Enterprise. Then again, I thought it was pretty sad when they killed ole Spocko. Who knows? Maybe the wrecked hull of the Enterprise will crash into an planetoid just as a Genesis bomb happens to be going off on the surface.... I can see it now--"Star Trek IV - The Quest For the Enterprise"! Maybe not. -- Mark Vita Dartmouth College {decvax, cornell, linus}!dartvax!markv
