<no-blank> According to Leonard Nimoy, who once hosted some syndicated special (don't recall the name) about the history of the Startrek series, the Cage footage was not re-used for any reason mentiond on the net lately. In this special Nimoy stated that Cage outtakes were used in "The Menagerie" because NBC had spent a lot of money on the original and previously unused plot, and they wanted to get a little mileage out of it. So the basic motivation was actually money. Given that this is the real world, and network is known to be moneygrubbing, this makes sense to me. By the way, if anyone is interested, channel 32 - WFLD in the Chicago area is haveing a Startrek special (they call it a Triad) Sunday night, starting at 7:00 p.m. This "Triad" consists of a special hosted by Nimoy (yes it's probably the same one), and two ST episodes, "Journey To Babel" and "Amok Time", which they advertise as "original and uncut". -- Is I is, or is I aint, John V.
