The ship's doctor in the second pilot was Dr. Piper and he was played (if memory serves) by Paul Fix. Other notables in the cast for this episode: Gary Lockwood played (Lt.?) Commander Gary Mitchell, Sally Kellerman played Dr. Elizabeth Dehner, and William Shatner played Kirk for the first time. [Actually, he played James R. Kirk, not James T. Kirk, unless Mitchell made a mistake in carving the tombstone. We were never told what the "R" was supposed to stand for.] Well-known stuntman Hal Needham doubled for Lockwood, I believe. This pilot was also shown as a first season episode. Roger Noe ihnp4!ihlts!rjnoe

I'm interested in the dates that are on it - do these dates fall in line with the consensus that Startrek is suppose to be occuring about 200 years in the future, at least that was the reference made in "Tommorrow is Yesterday" by the officer who wanted to throw Kirk in jail for that long, and Kirk responded that that ought to be about right. Does anyone out there know what time (using our calendar please - no stardates) the Startrek episodes actually take place in?
