X OK, let's talk about Spock's kaatra. This isn't the first time Spock has "lost his mind." It's happened so often, I think they should install a zipper in his skull. Remember the episode "Spock's Brain"? There the Eymorg Kara took Spock's brain to control the air conditioning system on her subterranian city. In "Return to Tommorrow" Spock's kaatra gets shuffled back and forth from his body to a crystal ball regularly. Finally it gets carried around in nurse Chapel's brain for a while. In the animated season, "The Infinite Vulcan", Spock gets cloned by Dr. Keniclius 5, who then puts Spock's kaatra into the clone, leaving the original spock without any marbles. The clone finally does a Vulcan mind touch and presto! we have two Spocks. So what happens to the kaatra when a Vulcan dies regularly? I suppose it gets passed on to someone close to him. Since this is usually another Vulcan, the kaatra blends in pretty well with the friend's mind. As: in "The Immunity Syndrome" when the "Intrepid" gets eaten, Spock senses the outcry of 400 dying Vulcan minds. He says they were surprised because "in all the collective memory of Vulcan, we have never been conquered". Thus if the kaatra is passed along, Vulcan may very well have a collective memory. So where to from here? I think the Genesis project has pretty well played out. We need something new. I think it's time for all out war with the Klingons. KILL THEM KLINGON SLIME!!! For the light side, I think it's time for Harry Mudd to resurface. I miss old Harry. He could be of real use in a war, as long as you can keep your eye on him. -- Brent Laminack (akgua!itm!brent)
