Perhaps the purpose of a Vulcan's core-dump is to add his knowledge to the great Knowledge Banks of Vulcan (much like the Kree Supreme Intelligence in Marvel Comics). Generally, Vulcans core-dump just before physical death. However, since once in a blue moon a Vulcan core-dumps and then it turns out that his body can be healed, the ritual of fusion is there to make up for such mistakes. Spock was one of those lucky few. You see, when Sarek said to Kirk: "Why did you leave him there?" (or something) he wasn't referring to Spock's body, but rather his soul. -Jack "1/256th vulcan" Applin (hplabs!hp-dcd!jack) P.S.: Oriental Vulcans???

Why does it take longer to reload? Easy. All the error checking is done on the reload. Hell, the dump is probably even done completely unformatted. (Try putting data on a disk pack you haven't formatted....) -- Randwulf (Randy Haskins); Path= genrad!mit-eddie!rh
