<is a tribble a bug?> Another question on the core dump of Spock. If he could dump to McCoy in a relatively short time, why does the reload of Spock from McCoy take so long (seems to last all night)? Sure, you could say that the bandwidth of going thru an intermediary is less, but it still seems unreasonable. And this quasi-religious ceremony for the whatever-it's-name-is that puts a Vulcan's soul into final rest. Positively medieval! This from a culture that values logic? As someone else pointed out, Nubile 'Temple virgins' (Drool), the gong ringer, etc. How spectacularly rational. A final question. How the **** can Sulu land a foreign craft? They couldn't even find the engine button, and it seems a lot easier to figure out which button will start the engines than to spontaneously generate a motor skill that usually takes a lot of practice to develop. And even if he can land Federation ships ("It's been a long time"), they seem qualitatively different than this Klingon/Romulan Bird of Prey. Enough nit-picking for now. This was just to fill in the gaps that others have failed to complain about. -- Clark The flames are getting higher, beam me up! (PS I enjoyed the movie, the above notwithstanding)

Vulcan Ritual would not necessarily be illogical. Vulcans seem to have always seen a value in maintaining traditions. Also certain rituals might be used to induce certain mental states. There is a tone which produces a feeling of awe in humans. Many religions employ an instrument which are capable of producing such tones. Maybe the rituals produce the proper mental states for the Vulcan mind transference procedure. I must admit the temple Virgins seemed out of place. -- Yehoyaqim Shemtob Martillo (An Equal Opportunity Offender)
