[net.startrek] Klingons

If we get some long-established Klingons (Kor, etc.) in STIII, will
they have old (tv) or new (movie) makeup? This will force the director
to decide whether there are two types of Klingons or not!

By the way, as TREK pointed out, there are many types of humans
(black, white, etc.) so why shouldn't there be many types of Klingons?
Klingons seem just the types to segregate their ships by race...

I couldn't come up with any "multiple Klingons," but
I remembered two of the more notable ones, if you
're (oops...heh heh) interested. They are Kang,
featured in the episode with the being that isolates
his command crew and Kirk's crew on the Enterprise
for an "eternal war," and Koloth, from "The Trouble
with Tribbles." In fact, William Campbell, who played
Koloth, said that at one point they considered having
him reappear in other episodes -- acting as Kirk's
"opposite number" in the Klingon Empire. It would
have been logical, as they probably patrolled the
adjoining space sectors. Hmmm...that makes Koloth
an "almost-multiple" Klingon...oh, wait a minute!
He is multiple! He also appeared on the animated
series, in "More Tribbles, More Troubles." (Am I
right, Roger?)

[Target engine only. Understood?]

If I read one more article about the "klingons are different this
time" syndrome, I'm going scream (really loud). As has been pointed
out before, the Klingons have every right to look different in the
movies.

As a counter example, shall we look at the crew of the Enterprise in this
most recent movie?

We have: 1) Captian Kirk + Dr. McCoy. Both "normal" humans. 2) A man
with slightly slanted eyes, slightly darker skin, and a funny accent
(SULU!!). 3) We have two men who look almost exactly like Cpt. Kirk but
both speak with "funny" accents (Scott + Checkov). At the transporter, we
see Uhura, and lo and behold, she's BLACK. If we can have so MANY different
types of HUMANS, all from ONE PLANET, why can't Paramount have MANY
different types of Klingons in their movies????

Note: none of the preceding paragraph should in any way shape or form be
construed as a racial slur on anyone, it was only an example. I could just
as easily have chosen any crewman as the norm.....
