-- I have been eagerly reading all the spoilers and finally got to see the movie. Everybody's right; the movie is great. I was also impressed with how tastefully "the scene" was handled. Everybody kept their clothes on, and my wife (who is not a heavy trekker) never knew what happened until I explained it to her later. But I'm really wondering now: WHO IS SAAVIK? Netters have hinted and guessed about her background. I gather that her Klingon father raped her Vulcan mother, and her upbringing was unconventional. That's all I remember hearing. Read the novelizations of STII and STIII for the scoop on Saavik. Basically, she is a Vulcan-Romulan (NOT Klingon) half-breed, and was raised on a Romulan pioneer planet, where she was shunned because she was a half-breed.
