[net.startrek] The age of the Enterprise

I have recently read a few comments concerning the age of the Enterprise
as given in STIII. According to the 'framing' story of the Menagerie, i.e.
Spock's court martial, Captain Pike's experiences on Talos IV took place
THIRTEEN years ago (this of course was account for the different crew and
look of the Enterprise between filming of the first ST pilot and the first
episode of the actual series). This would make the Enterprise actually 28
years old (13 + the 15 years between 'Space Seed' and TWOK) assuming of course
that the ship was on its maiden voyage during its first visit to Talos IV.

I grant the possibility that between the time that Pike commanded the ship
and Kirk took over the ship may have been given a major overhaul as in
ST:TMP and that when Morrow said that the Enterprise was 20 years old
he actually meant that it has been 20 years since this overhaul (or the
re-building of the Enterprise). Actually this would be consistent since
we know that Kirk encountered Khan during the first year of the Enterprise's
five year mission and that it has been 15 years since 'Space Seed' and
TWOK.

I know I'm just nit-picking but I'd thought that I mention this bit of
trivia since nobody else has yet.
