<caution--this line contains anti-matter> When the Enterprise entered the space dock, I thought the Excelsior was really beautiful--like the REliant and Esteban, but with Enterprise-style separate engineering hull. I was thrilled at the sight. Maybe that's why I didn't grieve as much later. A lot of netters are dumping on this ship's looks (I kind of agree the bridge is rather wooden), but these are the same clods who badmouth ST-TMP I'll bet. See McCoy about getting your taste buds re-installed at the inlet end.... SCOTTY! GET THOSE SHIELDS UP!!! mike k

#R:ihnss:-209800:uok:8400052:000:1127 uok!dwhitney Jun 18 13:20:00 1984 I agree with you about Excelsior to an extent, I believe a great deal of the fire the Excelsior is getting is more or less reaction to the death of our (yes, our) Enterprise...I really don't think anything can quite take the place of the NCC-1701......Anyway, the Excelsior is so-so in my humble opinion, but the bridge very strongly resembles the ORIGINAL bridge of the Enterprise-- has anyone else noticed that??? (how about the communicators, and the bridge "beeping" noises?? Right smack out of the series!!! That's probably to the credit of Nimoy..) Anyway, I knew there had to be someone else out there who liked ST:TMP besides me, I must admit when I saw it the first time I was simply awestruck...I really thought it was great, but then I felt guilty for liking it when all the critics said it was so awful...(the critics didn't like 2001 when it came out, either) Has anyone seen the "special extended version" of ST:TMP?? I got the tape of it, and it really improves the picture...(characters and continuity...all that) Oh, well, I've responded enough... David "Up Your Shaft" Whitney !ctvax!uokvax!uok!dwhitney
