I'm not afraid to admit it - I loved ST:TMP. I even went as far as buying the tape (I've played it enough times that my room-mate knows the script eventhough she's not a Trekkie). Frankly, I think picking apart ST movies and episodes is fun. That familiar face from Hill Street Blues was the acting Captain of the Excelsior in ST:TSFS. I thought he was great (he seems to play much the same type of character as in Hill Street, doesn't he?). I recently heard rumors that Paramount was going to create a plan to allow subscribers to buy ST episodes on tape (one tape a month until you have an entire set - UNCUT). Has anyone heard of this? And if so, where do I sign up???? The uncut versions of a few of the so-called "best" episodes are available; they are far superior to watching them on T.V with all those commercials. I'd love to get my hands on an entire set! In regards to the recent article about the ticket buying statistics of ST:TSFS - I have talked to several of my non-Trekkie friends about the movie. They all seem to think the movie was "O.K." but they felt that it was only a vehicle to get Spock back. Perhaps this explains why more people aren't flocking to see it (after all, you just have to go to Taco Bell once a week to get the entire story line!). A couple of these people stated that "The Needs of the One Outweigh the Needs of the Many" line of Kirk's turned them off; that it was not a good thought for today's society. Or, maybe people are just tired of the Genesis device. It's hard for me to understand this, since I loved the movie. Does anyone else have any input from the "Not-A-Star-Trek-Fan" public? -- "I'll be gettin' back to my machines noo" Josie Clementz ihuxw!josie
