Some time back, I mentioned that DC's STAR TREK comic had Saavik going through *pon farr*, and that her comment in THE SEARCH FOR SPOCK that *pon farr* was something that Vulcan males went through every seven years indicated that Vulcan females *didn't* go through it, thus blowing away that plot element in the comic. A few people objected to my comment that I would not accept as a justifi- cation for her *pon farr* that females had a different cycle. I think I should justify my comment. If females as well as males went through *pon farr*, then it would have been more reasonable (and logical) for Saavik to say, "*Pon farr* is something that *all* Vulcans must go through at certain times of their lives," rather than specifying males. I also believe that in "Amok Time" <I haven't seen this in a *long* time, so this is from memory; if I'm wrong, please correct me, but if you do, supply an exact quote (and not from Blish's adaptation, either).> Spock specificly mentions males, rather than all Vulcans. --- jayembee (Jerry Boyajian, DEC Maynard, MA) UUCP: {decvax|ihnp4|allegra|ucbvax|...}!decwrl!dec-rhea!dec-akov68!boyajian ARPA: boyajian%akov68.DEC@DECWRL.ARPA
