The following is from an interview with William Shatner:
Q. Have you heard any specific plans for a ST IV?
If so, do you have any idea who will be writing or
directing the film? What is a feasible date for
the start of actual filming?
WS. I've no idea who will be writing or directing. We
will start the actual production as soon as I finish
Hooker, probably March. They want to go for a
Christmas 1985 release.
from the same interview concerning his battle with Kruge:
WS.When we filmed it, it was much mor extensive than was
shown. Apparently this was because the set of the
planet did not look as good has we had hoped it would.
So, they cut around it.
My comment: I would like to think it was edited to about
the right amount of footage for slugging and mayhem. I
wouldn't have wanted any more.
