(=:* that green-blooded son of a *:=) Star Trek can never lower itself to a level with Star Wars -- it has one important element which Star Wars never had -- that being good acting and character development. ( Can you imagine Spock turning out to be Kirk's Half brother and Scotty their uncle? -- good grief! ) Netlanders here seem to be worried that if the Federation goes to war in Star Trek IV, we will have instant Star Wars. I don't think so. Why? -- Do you think that Paramount could afford it? Never-the-less, I DO want to see something to this effect -- don't get me wrong -- I don't want to see an all-out bloody confrontation -- but I do believe it is about time for some sort of skirmish ( with the gang involved, of course ) in which the final result would be lasting Galactic ( to the extent that it then exists ) peace and isn't that what we all want!? I hated E.T. too, A.K.A. Lt. Suvak. (not Saavik) *** BEAM ME UP, SCOTTY! ***

#R:garfield:-138800:smu:18200011:000:307 smu!jay Jul 12 11:10:00 1984 That's not Lt. Suvak, it's Captain Suvak of the USS Intrepid. E.T. is a fantasy movie designed to make you feel good. It does its job and so is good. Star Wars is an adventure movie and as long as it NEVER claims to have good dialogue nor airtight (or cork tight) plots then it does its job too.
