I just don't see how you people can still say "there will be a war
in STIV", no way the Organia Peace Treaty strickly forbids it. I don't
know if the peace treaty that is written up in the technical manual
is gospel or not but, without permission of course:

Condition 1:
This treaty of peace is simultaneously imposed upon the Klingon
Empire and the United Federation of Planets. Unless your govern-
ments and combatants in galatic space agree to an immediate
cessation of hostilities, your armed forces wherever they may be
     will be immediately disabled;

If thats what they meant I seriously doubt there will be any kind of
a war. Oh, by the way, the same treaty sets up the neutral zone between
the two. We may find that the fourth condition of the same treaty is
what the fourth movie may be about.

Condition 4:
The time will come in the future when the Klingon Empire and the
United Federation of Planets will become allies and good friends,
working together in peace and harmony for the betterment of both.
Until that time, neither party may deny to the other peaceful
access to its planetary bases within the neutral zone for shore
     leave, rest, and rehabilitation;

Who knows....Gene Roddenberry of course.

Yes, I understand the precept of the Organian Peace Treaty. Consider this,
however; if the Klingons were able to capture even a fraction of Genesis,
it would seem to me quite simple for a perverted Klingon mind to create
a simliar weapon quite capable of destroying the Organians. Instant
destruction of treaties, too.... Now if you start having Klingon and
Federation tea parties, well, thats no good, either, because then there's
no "perfect greasy villain." No, the Romulans arent good greasy villains,
just the Klingons.

But, as I mentioned in a previous note, I hope ST4 IS NOT a war. It would
be a monument to the creative talents of Harve Bennett and crew if he can
come up with a ST4 story exonerating Kirk and crew while getting a new ship
without having some sort of galactic confrontation. In any event, it looks
like ST4 is going into preproduction this fall, and shooting by March, so
we wont have to wait two years to find out, will we!!

No way, remember what the Organians were, they are pure energy!!!
how can you destroy pure energy, that is intelligent? I can't believe
that the all knowing, all seeing Organians would allow any mechanism
that could even possibly destroy them, from even getting near them.
You must also remember that the Organians could change into any shape
that they wanted, and the humanoid appearance that they had was
"for the sake of Kirk, Spock, and the Klingons". I don't see that
some being or higher form of life such as the Organians would allow
such a thing as the Genesis machine to destroy them.

And now for a little Vogon Poetry.....

Genesis converts matter; mind you, ANY matter, energy, and scrambles it
silly. Light, for example, cannot escape the magnetism of a black hole
so, if you have a Genesis device that creates an intense, imploding
black hold (perhaps like a neutron star gone nova), then you have a trap
that the Organians simply cannot escape, no matter how "all seeing" they
are. Besides, you can stretch the Organian peace treaty to the extent
that it would have precluded the Kruge-Kirk conflict, in the first place.
That would have made ST3 rather ho-hum, don't you think??

Oh, well....

Surely, a race as powerful as the Organians (being able to disable
ships at incredible distances instantly, etc.) would be avle to
locate and stop a genesis like weapon well before it hit them.
Even if it did hit their planet, you must remember that they are
not physical beings but, I belive they were said to have evolved
into a form of living energy, and I don't think genisis could
hurt them. If I remember correctly, the Organians disappeared
mysteriously (I think this was in one of the books) for a number
of years, and hostilities broke out again. This could happen in
ST IV. In any event, I don't know and its not good to speculate
too much
