Up until awhile ago, all male Vulcan names started wuth S, ended with k and had 3 letters in between. Female Vulcan names began with T' and had a single syllable following, not necessarily 3 letters (e.g. T'Pring). Saavik was brought up as something of a slave well outside of Vulcan society. Ordinary Vulcan conventions do not apply to her. But, as she is a member of Starfleet, their conventions do apply to her, such as the title "mister" for any officer, used most frequently when a subordinate officer is being addressed. -- "The more they overthink the plumbin', the easier 'tis to stop up the drain." Stonn begins with 's' and ends with 'k'?

<for the mechanical rice-picker> There's no rule that says all male Vulcan names begin with "s" and end with "k". In "Amok Time", wasn't T'Pring's "boyfriend" named Stonn? -- Bill Bulko Department of Computer Sciences The University of Texas {ihnp4,ctvax,seismo}!ut-sally!bulko

Curious that Vulcan names should follow these exacting patterns even after translation into English. What do you suppose the odds against that would be, Mr. Spawque? -- Andrew Klossner (decvax!tektronix!orca!andrew) [UUCP] (orca!andrew.tektronix@rand-relay) [ARPA]
